After I reached row 24 of the Mingus design, I tried my sock on. All I could see was the brown stripe and not very much of the Mingus lace pattern. Going up to size 2.75 mm needles and selecting a more gently variegated yarn (which I happen to have) will result in a prettier looking Mingus sock. I started playing with cable patterns and came up with this design. It is 72 sts on size 2.25 mm Knit Picks circular needles. The cables are just on the edge of the instep and go in opposite directions. It makes for interesting knitting and works much better with this delightfully dyed Sunflower yarn from Loribird's Wool Room.
I agree that this pattern is a much better match for this yarn. Good eye!
