When I spent a Sunday afternoon with Wendy a few weeks ago, she generously shared some of her Guanaco fiber (from Spirit Trail, I think) with me. I have been doing so much knitting and was in the mood for some spinning. I didn't want to do anything big, like put a bobbin on my wheel and start the third and final ply of the Polwarth I am spinning. The Guanaco fiber is very soft and is truly enjoyable spinning. I'm thinking of a 3-ply yarn and I should have enough to knit a cuff as I want to enjoy the softness of this fiber. This is my lace weight Cougar spindle that I purchased from The Bellwether. Amelia is a very nice shop owner and has great customer service.
I leave to see my sister tomorrow and will be back to blogging on Sunday. I am bringing Diva's Fetching Stocking and my Opal Petticoat sock and maybe an extra ball of sock yarn just for good measure.
Have a great time and don't forget to pack your "emergency knitting"!

The Guanaco looks so soft, it will make a beautiful cuff. Will you add beads or leave it unadorned? Pretty spindle too, and I agree with your comments re the Bellwether....first rate service.

Glad you posted this, I did not even know there was such an animal! The camelid family is much more diverse than I imagined.
