I have completed my first Cables and Lace Samhain sock. It was a lot of fun to knit with its unique color variations. I really like my Signature Needle Arts 2.25 mm dpns with this 70% wool/30% silk yarn. I used one of the new techniques that I learned from Lucy Neatby's Sock Techniques 2 DVD. She recommends making the heel on 60% of the total sts instead of the typical 50%. This is a 64 st sock and that worked out to 38 sts, however, I inadvertently ended up with 37 sts for this sock. It does make for a nicer fit on a plain sock like this one, though I'm not sure how I would use this technique for a sock with a pattern stitch. I did not change needle sizes for the heel and toe. I thought the silk would add enough strength and that using 1.75 mm needles with this dark yarn might have been too challenging.

Nice colors. Thanks for the tip on the heel sts as some of my socks are a little tight around the ankle.
